From the very beginning of her artistic career, Joyce has been obsessed with drawing outdoors and is described as a “plein air-holic” by fellow painters.

Starting from 2^nd year, Joyce paints almost every day, even when travelling for work or vacation. Painting has become a vital part of her life, fuelled by strong desire. She believes that without regular practice, her vitality and edge could be lost, compromising her raw skills and technical ability. Joyce believes, to keep her artistic development moving forward while gaining confidence and ability, she must paint as often as possible, with utmost determination and perseverance.

由始至終，顏潔明一直沉迷戶外寫生，被戲謔為「寫生狂」。

由第二年開始，顏潔明幾乎每天都習畫，連出差或外遊時也不例外。她說畫畫是她生命最重要的一部份。隨著熱情與日俱増，顏潔明每天都「筆」不離手，認為繪畫始終是手上功夫，功多自然藝熟。也因為好的畫就靠一點點靈氣，若你不是酷愛，就無法凝聚那股靈氣。顏潔明深信，在藝術領域上要取得成就，天份並非全部，最重要的是長年累月堅持下去那一份毅力，意志和決心。
