Ngan Kit Ming, Joyce

Joyce Ngan Kit Ming (born in 1965) has been passionate about art since a young age. She finished her degree in translation and MBA from the University of Hong Kong. Soon afterwards she started a design and public relations business at the age of 22. After being an entrepreneur and running two companies for 30 years, she finally stepped down from the hectic corporate world and begins to pursue her true passion in art.

In 2013, Joyce began focusing on oil painting and she recently spent six months in Taipei studying sketching with renowned portrait artist Yim Mau Kun. Afterwards, she served as an apprentice under the Chinese artist Tang Yik Lung, honing her oil painting skills.

Despite her busy schedule, Joyce is deeply dedicated to art. She loves to paint as much as she loves to write and sees brushes as her new voice.

Joyce has enjoyed plain air painting since 2014, and takes great pleasure in working outdoors. In a single year, she completed over 100 pieces and she always carries a painting kit wherever she goes, hoping to capture the precious moments happening in this beautiful city.

Though she had only two years of experience as a painter, Joyce’s work was selected for the 3rd Hong Kong Oil Painting Contest, organised by the Hong Kong Oil Painting Studies Society. As part of the competition, her work was featured in an exhibition alongside pieces from the city’s foremost professional artists. Acclaimed as one of the rising stars in Hong Kong arts arena, her story has inspired many fellow painters.

In 2016, Joyce was invited by Hong Kong’s Sun Museum to showcase her work in an exhibition featuring pieces from emerging oil painters. She published her first painting album in connecting to this exhibition.  Encouraged by the recognition she has received from art critics, she plans to become a full-time painter and will devote herself to the development of the city’s arts and culture scene.

藝術家簡歷

一九六五年香港出生。於香港大學先後修讀翻譯學士及工商管理碩士，資深公關，自小喜愛藝術，但埋首工作以致一直無緣接受繪畫的訓練。

二零一三年退下職場火線，工餘開始習畫。二零一六年赴台灣跟隨畫家冉茂芹老師學習素描六個月。現在正跟隨鄧亦農老師學習油畫。

工餘學畫，精力有限，但無損愛畫的天性。三年多來夙夜匪懈的練習，彷彿有說不盡的話，總覺畫不完。本來是以文字謀生的人，卻更愛用畫筆和顏色去表達自己。往後的歲月期待與畫為伍，欣賞人生路上絢麗風光。

二零一四年起開始寫生，熱愛寫生。二零一四年一年間戶外寫生數量已逾百幅。無論在上班或假期的日子，身邊總帶着畫箱，在摩肩接踵的大街小巷或春雨冬涼的山水之間，捕捉瞬間這個城市鮮活的印象，自得其樂。

二零一五年參加香港油畫硏究會舉辦的第三屆全港油畫大展，成功入選，以當時僅兩年多的畫齡，擠身於香港畫壇專業畫家展覽之中，在畫壇備受注目，個人習畫經歷砥勵了無數師友。

二零一六年，顏潔明獲得一新博物館的賞識，邀請她在該館首次向公眾人士展出十二幅作品，定位為香港新晉油畫家。同時出版第一本畫書，收錄了顏氏首次向公眾發表一共六十幅由2014-2016年間完成的早期作品。作品獲得藝術界專業人士肯定。正計劃全職投身繪畫藝術，以專業畫家身份推動香港的文化藝術發展。
