May 13, 2016. Oil on canvas. 18cm x 25cm.
As the junior student at my Master Yim’s Taipei studio, I was assigned to do pencil sketch drawing of statue, until one day, master evaluated that I could be “promoted” to the senior class to draw life model. And the ultimate promotion was the oil painting of life model.
There were so many talented painters in Yim’s classroom and every lessons I could see amazing paintings from the senior.
But on one day my favourite pretty classmate was recruited as model and I could not resist to try to paint her. Therefore I was granted a one-off permit, sitting in the senior’s class.
The pretty lady was a mother of 2 kids. She had a great personality, very well-mannered and pretty. She was graduated from France and therefore had an exotic favour. She was a Taiwanese but since her father was Cantonese she could understand my dialect – very comforting for me indeed.
I did 2 quick sketch each 40 minutes. I loved the brilliant colour although I could not get the right proportion.
With Master and the prettiest woman in the class.
Pretty mother and her elder daughter.
Master’s marvellous work
