April 6, 2016. Oil on canvas. 40 x 50cm
Today I was introduced by a friend to go to a new human portrait painting gathering. There are a lot of special things about this group.
First, they are the oldest group of this kind. Secondly, the venue is quite small and overcrowded. Thirdly, the quality of models are quite varied, meaning sometimes the model is not that up to standard. Fourthly, the average age of this group is 78. It is an elderly group!!!!! Last but not least, one member Uncle Tak has over 94 and is probably the eldest artist in our circle! (I asked to check his ID card and verified that he had born in 1921.)
I felt so excited by all these. Despite that the model was late for 25 mins and some members were discontented and the model was upset when posing, I found the experience a lot of fun.
Today I completed my oil painting within 2 hours. Faster than normal. Delight surprised.
Uncle Tak in good health, clear mind and good spirit at his 94. Still went to weekly regular life painting gathering. He was a voilin teacher too. It is unbelievable. I really admired him and wished I could be able to do what he can do in my 90s’.
Our oversized model Joyce, showed her boring face in the whole session. Can’t blame her. She had argued with her artists’ client for some time on the late issue at the start of the modelling session.
